Stephen Ministries
During the time Stephen Ministry has been in operation at Holy Spirit Parish, the program has provided over 10,000 hours serving many of our parishioners and others who are in need of loving spiritual caregiving. The Ministry is an International Christian one-on-one life crisis support organization. Stephen Ministers provide loving confidential support for bereavement, divorce, terminal illness, loss of work, and so many other of life's circumstances that can tear at one's soul.
Stephen Ministers are not mental health professionals, they are simply compassionate, loving Christian people, following their Christian mandate to follow Christ's teachings, with a desire to help someone through a difficult time in their life by offering them confidential emotional and spiritual support.
We currently have 44 men and women, (nine of whom are leaders) who have gone through many hours of training to prepare for this ministry. Most of them now are giving support to those grieving the loss of a loved one, a serious illness, job loss, divorce, loneliness and many other difficult situations. They bring the love of Christ to those who are hurting and know that while they are the caregiver, Christ is the caregiver. As you know, the power of prayer is very healing, at our meetings we pray for all of you, many times individually, in your time of need.
Additionally, we have a library of some very helpful books. If you think you might be interested in becoming a friend to someone and offering a shoulder to lean on as a Stephen Minister, or if you or a family member could use the support of one, Holy Spirit Stephen Ministry is here for you and all of your loved ones.
For more information, please call Laurie at (559) 434-5701 or Paul at (559) 706-1677.
