Matrimony
Contact: Deacon Pete Marquez, in the parish office. (559) 434-7701
If you and your fiancé are preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony, here are some things you need to know:
- The Sacrament of Matrimony is a sacred institution in the life of the Church. Couples who are preparing for Matrimony should take seriously their vocation to married life and seek to understand and live out the Church's teaching on the sacrament as best they can. Click here to read more about the Church's teaching on the Sacrament of Matrimony.
- The Sacrament of Matrimony is usually celebrated in the bride or groom's home parish. If you live outside of our parish boundaries and/or belong to another parish, you will need permission from your parish pastor and our parish pastor to marry at Holy Spirit.
- All engaged couples are required to attend an Engaged Encounter weekend retreat or Pre-Matrimony counseling classes with approved counselors. ceefresno.org/ctc.htm
- Catholics will need to provide copies of baptismal certificates dated within six months of their wedding date as well as First Communion and Confirmation certificates.
- Weddings may be scheduled on Friday evenings or on Saturdays from 10:00am-1:00pm (with the church vacated by 2:30pm) or after 6:00pm. The parish hall is not available for receptions.
- The total church fee is $995, which includes the use of the church, the wedding coordinator, musicians and altar servers. A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required to reserve your date on the church calendar.
Please call Deacon Pete Marquez at the parish office with any questions. He will be more than happy to check available dates for you and review all of the information you need for the Sacrament of Matrimony.
