A message from the office of the Diocese of Fresno
This Lenten season brings us a new opportunity for prayer and reflection, through the release of a new movie, “Unplanned”, opening on March 29th. It tells the story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director who experienced a conversion of heart after seeing an ultrasound-guided abortion and understanding first-hand what abortion does to an unborn child. Unplanned is a very impactful movie. It honestly portrays the reality of abortion and is graphic in some moments. It can be a powerful tool to evangelize the truth about the beauty and dignity of every human life and our call to prayerful witness on behalf of all people, born and unborn. Such a movie, with its frank portrayal of abortion may draw out emotions that are difficult. Statistically, 1 in 4 women nationwide have a personal experience with abortion, and many women who have suffered miscarriages, or difficult births.
