Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
RCIA Inquiry Group
It is not too late to join the group on Wednesday night at 6:30 P.M.
If you have any questions regarding the group, please call the Religious Education Office at (559) 434-3522.
Adult Catholic Faith Inquiry is primarily a journey of faith. It is a restoration of the ancient practice of initiation in the Church. It is focused on conversion through prayer and reflection on the gospels. It is also a communal journey in which the Church community ritually celebrates conversion at various points during the journey. RCIA is not a program but a sacramental process in which candidates are fully initiated into the Catholic faith.
Holy Spirit Catholic Church has an active and Christ-centered RCIA dedicated to welcome and address any adult inquiring about the Catholic tradition, to provide preparation and support for those seeking any of the initiation sacraments-Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion- and to prepare already baptized Christians wishing to embrace Catholicism for reception into the Church. These classes are held Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Adult First Communion and Confirmation
For baptized Catholics, ages 18 and older, who are practicing their faith but have not received First Communion and/or the Sacrament of Confirmation, you are invited to participate in Holy Spirit’s Adult First Communion/Confirmation program.
This is a dynamic program of adult formation that combines lectures and presentations with bible reflections and prayer. The sessions cover the essentials of the faith such as scripture and tradition, Jesus Christ, the Church, prayer and spirituality, Eucharist and worship, Catholic social teaching, the sacraments and more. This program consists of twenty-six required sessions. Each session will be about 2 hours. Classes are held Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in classroom 6. The dates will be posted for the class as soon as they have been determined for the coming year.
