What is confirmation?

TEEN CONFIRMATION PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- In the Diocese of Fresno, all teens must be 16 years old in order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and have completed 2 years of formation.
- Confirmation at Holy Spirit will take place on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 (for CII students)
- Classes take place on Sunday evenings, 1-2 times/month:
- Confirmation Year 2 (CII) class is 4:00pm to 5:30pm
- Confirmation Year 1 (CI) class is 6:00pm to 7:30pm
- Students must complete 15 service hours per year of formation (30 total), at least 2 of which must be in service to Holy Spirit Church.
- A retreat is a requirement, and no student will receive the Sacrament without attending a retreat.
- Mass attendance is required, but not tracked.
- Second year students must write their Letter of Intent to Msgr. McCormick and complete a Saint project.
- Attendance is required at a minimum of 50% of all scheduled Holy Hours each year.
- Participation in our Youth Group, while not mandatory, is encouraged.

** IMPORTANT INFORMATION **
SAN JOAQUIN MEMORIAL STUDENTS: Students who attend SJM are required to take just one year of Confirmation classes, the CII year (2nd year). Please be sure when signing up, that you/your student will make the minimum age requirement of 16 to be confirmed. Confirmation at Holy Spirit will take place on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 (for CII students). Though the 2027 Confirmation date has not been published, it will likely be on/around Saturday, March 6th, 2027.
Steps for Registering for Confirmation

Welcome to the program!
- Read the "Confirmation Program Packet" linked below. By registering for classes, you are agreeing to the terms and requirements outlined within this packet, ie: class, holy hour, service hours, projects, etc. Please do not sign up if you cannot commit to classes.
- Download and complete the following forms: Diocesan Forms (CI & CII), Sponsor Form (CII only), linked below. The forms are fillable so can be completed on your device. You may also print and complete by hand and take a picture or scan from your phone. These forms will need to be uploaded when prompted. CI and SJM CII Candidates: Have a digital copy of your baptismal and First Holy Communion certificates available for upload.
- Before registering, you must create (or update) your Flocknote profile by clicking here. Registration works best on a desktop computer.
- Once you have created a profile, you may begin the registration process. Simply choose the class you are signing your child up for (CI, CII, or SJM CII).
- The last step will be to pay for the class.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP
We encourage all Confirmation students to join our High School Youth Group. Youth Group meets twice a month on Wednesday evenings. More information can be found here. Check back in June for an updated 2025-2026 Youth Group Calendar.
